Cyprus Praises AOC Pre-Release

There is no doubt that Funcom is devoted to making Age of Conan a powerhouse MMORPG. 

I will be honest and say that the game was rocky during early beta, but they made huge strides to improve performance since then.  My computer is currently running on the high quality setting. and I'm pleasantly surprised to see 50+ frame rates quite often.  The game play is smooth, the fatalities are beautifully gory, and I'm thrilled to see a lot less choppiness in dungeons and instances. 

Now, for those that are having issues, I am running an Nvidia 8800 GTS 640, so I expect good results.  Several friends of mine are running lesser video cards and getting very good results on medium settings, so I'm pleased that most people should be able to get to that level.

If there was one thing that has frustrated me, its the constant server down time for patches and fixes.  Its obvious they are working on the game, making things better with every patch, but there has been some serious downtime during this 3 day pre-release. 

Overall, its been more like a 1.5 day pre-release with 2 major extensions on some called out fixes.  But, with all the good change that has come from every single patch since the first day of Beta, I can only assume that they are making equally impressive changes to the already superior game.

Having played some other games that were not nearly as polished (who also claimed to make improvements that are still not evident a year later), I am really excited to chop some heads in Funcom's world of Hyboria.  See you soon!
